Christie has held various positions at Headway since joining the organization in 2007. She has a wide range of clinical experience, with direct experience and expertise in school-based mental health. She feels very passionately about the partnership between schools and mental health services and believes this collaboration creates healthier students, families, schools, and communities. She hopes that her team can not only bring direct therapeutic services to schools in the Anoka-Hennepin district, but also bring tools for providing overall support and awareness of student mental health. “I feel greatly honored to be in a role where I am given the opportunity to support the powerful work our school-based team is doing every day with young people,” she says.

Abbie joined Headway in August, 2013 and has worked in human services since 2009. She provides individual, family, and group therapy services directly in the school to students with mental health needs and is a resource to teachers and other school staff in regards to the mental health perspective. She has her Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota. She works with children and their families, specializing in  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, play therapy, Solution – Focused therapy, attachment theory, trauma and developmental repair. She says, "I look forward to working with students and collaborating with schools and families to ensure mental health needs are being met in order to facilitate success in other areas of their life."

In Abbie's spare time, she enjoys waterskiing, kickboxing and spending time with her family.

Alexandra has been with Headway since May, 2018 and has worked in human services since 2015. She has past experience working with children and adolescents in a day treatment setting, and has done community-based mental health providing therapy and skills to individuals with an SPMI diagnosis. She also has experience providing group skills and support to individuals working towards recovery from an eating disorder. As a school-based therapist, she brings her passion and experience working with kids and families to her role and works diligently to provide early intervention techniques with her clients.

Ashley has worked in the human services field since 2004 including working at Headway from 2011 to 2013 in the Vision Therapeutic Classrooms program before moving to Chicago for a few years. She returned to Headway in August, 2016 and is excited to work with children within the school system as it allows her to reach her clients in multiple environments and approach mental health more holistically. She has training in multiple therapeutic approaches, including trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, art therapy, and play therapy, but also finds many positive outcomes using a solution-focused and strengths-based approach. “A child’s spirit is captivating and I love providing opportunities to promote mental and emotional well-being for a successful future for them,” she says.

In her free time, Ashley enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends and her puppy. She also enjoys being outdoors whenever possible, playing games, and constantly pursuing the best Sushi!

Danielle has been with Headway since August, 2018 and has worked in human services since 2007. She has past experience working with adolescents with severe emotional disorders in a level 5 setting, and children with autism and their families. As a school-based therapist, she works with an interdisciplinary team while also providing individual services to children and their families in an elementary school setting, as well as school staff. She has the ability to provide support in a school setting where kids spend most of their time. Prior to joining Headway, she worked for Lifespan of Minnesota working with children and adolescents aged 5-18.  She has worked with a wide range of ages from 18 months old to adulthood, however.  She specializes in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, mindfulness/yoga, and play therapy, and has a background in children’s mental health case management, which has helped her learn the various ins and outs of the community supports available to the children and families she works with. “I really enjoy working with kids who are having a really tough time,” she says. “Watching a kid grow and experience success is one of the best feelings and the reason that I love what I do.”

Dusty loves yoga, sports, outdoors, and being on the go! A big part of her life outside of work is spent on the field or court cheering for her kids. She is huge on family and family time spent together.

Jessica has worked in the human services field since 2004 and joined Headway in January, 2016.  She has worked previously with adolescents in a day treatment setting, couples, families and individuals in outpatient therapy or mediation, and children in first through eighth grade as a special Ed EA.  Most recently, she worked as a Care Advocate for Medica Behavioral Health, working with hospitals, facilities serving autistic children, outpatient providers, and parents to find mental health services for their children and advocate for services that would best service the client.  As a school-based therapist for Headway, she is excited to work directly with children and their families in a K-5 school.  "I am very excited to be working directly with children, along with their families and teachers," she says.  "There is not a better time to provide early support to a child and family that may confirm to that child that he or she is valuable, capable, seen, and heard."   

Languages and culture are very interesting to Jessica.  When she is not working, she enjoys trying new foods, going to new places, and watching foreign films.  She also loves anything creative - painting, writing, and jewelry making.

Katie Mac has more than 11 years of experience working with diverse school-aged children, including teaching on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Houston, TX as well as our in own inner city St. Paul with children experiencing extreme poverty, trauma, and family challenges. She has previous experience in school counseling and as a positive behavioral intervention specialist.  She works with adolescents and adults, and has experience working with diverse populations from her time with a school district that included refugees and over 40 different languages spoken among the students and families. “I love being able to provide support and life skills to kids in addition to building their confidence,” she says.  "I truly appreciate being able to work in the school environment."

Vanessa joined Headway in September, 2015 and has worked in human services since 2012.  She is experienced in working with children with autism spectrum disorders and their families, and has worked with children and adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric unit.  She now works in a school based setting providing therapeutic services individually and in groups to children and their families.  She also provides consultation to teachers regarding the mental health needs of their students.  She is dedicated to building acceptance and reducing shame of mental health challenges in the community while respecting cultural boundaries.  "I use a fun and nonjudgmental approach when addressing the needs of clients and families," she says.

In her spare time, Vanessa studies French and enjoys traveling, biking, playing piano, camping, and shopping.
