Sexual Abuse Treatment

Headway offers individual, group, and family therapy as well as outreach, community education and advocacy services to children and adolescents who have been sexually abused and/or have acted out sexually. Often these adolescents have attachment, anger, social and developmental delays, anxiety, depression, and a wide range of behavioral problems. We provide a safe and supportive environment that empowers growth and enables healthy change. Our approach is to treat the whole child –emotionally, socially, and neurologically – and to recognize the far-reaching impacts that sexual abuse can have on a youth and his or her family.

Though young people who act out toward others also may have been victims, their therapeutic needs are somewhat different. In addition to learning how their abuse has impacted their life and relationships, we also guide them in developing the personal character to take responsibility for their own behaviors.
