Teri has been with Headway since August, 2018 and has worked in human services for over 22 years. She has past experience as a day treatment therapist, in-home skills worker, individual therapist and psychometrist, community mental health therapist intern, and worked in adolescent residential services. She has specialties in cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-focused approaches to therapy and has worked with clients of all ages, including children and adolescents who qualify as having mental health diagnoses, children diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, adult women victims of physical, mental, and sexual abuse, and families in conflict or crisis. As Supervisor, Co-Located Programs, she supervises clinicians and teams in programs located around the Twin Cities who serve a variety of populations. She brings an understanding of the unique challenges of building a team as well as experience bridging relationships between different systems to assist in providing the best collaborative care possible for individuals participating in receiving the services.

In her spare time, Teri enjoys being outdoors, walking her dog, hiking, boating, camping and kayaking, practicing yoga, and meditation.

Austina joined Headway in July, 2017 and has worked in the human services field since 2012.  She has previous experience working with children, adolescents and adults and has a background in life skills development and substance use disorders.  She provides therapy services to women at RS Eden who are struggling with co-occurring disorders and also at Headway's Golden Valley outpatient clinic to clients of all ages.  "I plan to tailor my therapeutic techniques to help each individual based off of their own needs," she says.

In her free time, Austina likes to go for walks in the park and go to concerts.  She also likes to get together with close friends and have dinner at new restaurants, play video games, and relax.

Charlie has been in the addiction/mental health field for more than 35 years and with Headway since 2000. He provides mental health services both at our Golden Valley outpatient clinic at at Mission Lodge.  He works with all populations we serve: children ages 11-18, families, couples and adults, but his specialties include helping those suffering from addiction, sexual abuse and domestic violence. He has joined our Dialectical Behavioral Therapy team (DBT) and uses cognitive behavioral therapy and hypnosis as well. His goal is to help clients and colleagues bring their assets to every situation they encounter. “Families and individuals who can communicate effectively and master their emotions and thoughts can bring hope and healing to any circumstance,” he says.

Charlie is married and enjoys bird watching, tennis and volunteering in the community to help people affected by substance abuse.

Christine has been with Headway since April, 2018 and has worked in human services since 2017.  As a therapist in the Plus program, she provides therapeutic services and support to youth in a school environment, helping to eliminate the barrier of receiving those services after school.  "I hope to empower students and open their eyes to the strength and value that each of them hold," she says.  "I hope that through active listening, advocacy, and engagement with the students, I give them the opportunity and space to be heard, supported, and able to thrive."

In her spare time, Christine enjoys reading, traveling, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

DeRelle has been with Headway since February 2018.  As a co-located therapist working at Perpich, her favorite aspect of her position is working with adolescents and collaborating with her colleagues about the well-being of her clients.  She is trained in trauma-informed care, has experience and training in working with clients struggling with homelessness, and training in human trafficking issues.  She enjoys working with diverse groups of clients by helping them to accomplish their therapeutic goals.  "My plan is to work in the best interest of my clients to help them build a healthy self-esteem", she says.

In her spare time, DeRelle enjoys running, reading, cooking (especially Cajun-style southern food), and spending time with family.

Emily joined Headway in August, 2015 and has worked in human services since 2005.  She works with adolescents and their families within an educational setting.  She is experienced in working with a variety of populations, and has had extensive experience working with children and their families.  She is particularly interested in children's mental health, children with developmental disabilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse populations.  "I hope to serve my clients with dignity and respect by empowering them to find their inner strength and resiliency," she says.

Jilleen joined Headway in December, 2016 and has worked in the human services field for more than 20 years.  She has provided services in several different mental health agencies and within schools and was previously an Intern at Headway's Day Treatment program.  She has experience working with trauma, poverty, domestic abuse, anger management and also with adolescents on probation.  At RS Eden, she provides therapy and psychological assessments onsite for men in the program.  

In addition to providing therapy for Headway, Jilleen also works part-time providing Domestic Abuse Education Groups for men and women.  In her free time, she loves to read, walk her dogs, be with her family, see friends, and travel.

Kassia has worked in the human services field since 2005 and joined Headway's therapy team in June, 2017.  She worked previously as a Children's Mental Health Targeted Case Manager for Headway for four years and has experience working with children, teens, adults, and families.  She has also worked with people who are dealing with dual diagnosis, seriously and persistently mentally ill, and ageing.  She provides therapy services at both our Richfield outpatient location and at Phoenix Recovery using "strengths based approaches to help clients embrace resilience, healing, and self determination," she says.

In her free time, Kassia enjoys traveling, especially to Jamaica, which is her favorite place to visit.

Katelyn has worked in the human services field since 2008 and joined Headway in January, 2016.  She provides outpatient therapy services at Youthlink and the Downtown View housing site in Minneapolis where she will be working primarily with teens and young adults who are currently experiencing homelessness, at risk of becoming homeless, or who are newly housed in Youthlink's supportive transitional housing program.  In addition to her previous experience of working with teens and adults who are experiencing homelessness, she also has worked with children, teens and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and with adults with severe and persistent mental illness.  "I hope to help empower my clients and provide them with a safe place to share their story and heal," she says.

In her free time, Katelyn likes to travel, garden, practice yoga, spend time out on the lake, and spend time with her friends and family.

Marina joined Headway in November, 2016 and has worked in the human services field since 2014.  Prior to joining Headway, she worked with children and families at Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio (CLUES).  She specializes in working with minorities, especially those of Hispanic origin, and enjoys using Cognitive Behavior Therapy approaches with her clients.  "I provide highly sensitive, multicultural services and encourage my clients to not only keep their heritage and cultural belief systems, but also empower them by providing tools to help them improve themselves," she says.

In her free time, Marina likes to cook and try out new recipes, especially desserts.  She also likes to do arts and crafts, read books, and take her dog for walks.

Nicole joined Headway in September, 2017 and is currently attending the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology working toward earning her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She will be providing testing and assessments to children, adolescents, and adults in several of our co-located programs and writing the accompanying reports to that will help provide recommendations for treatment based upon the individual’s testing results. “I am excited to work with different populations so that I can learn the different needs of each group,” she says.

Nicole has been a Jazzercise instructor for 3 years and loves to teach fun aerobics classes to people in her community. She also loves to play with her three dogs and foster dogs though Protecting Paws Animal Rescue, read, bake, and take naps.

Nicole has worked in human services since 2004 and started at Headway in 2011. She works with women in the RS Eden chemical dependency program, focusing on their mental health issues and facilitating reunification with their children when necessary. “I think joining the women on their journey through treatment and helping them process past trauma is vital in maintaining their sobriety enough to find self-acceptance, making them more likely to be productive, contributing members of their communities,” she says.

In her free time, Nicole enjoys all music, being outdoors, traveling, going to Twins baseball games, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Penny joined Headway in September, 2017 and has worked in the human services field for nearly 30 years.  She works with young adults at Bloomington Transition Center who have various physical and mental health disabilities and are leaving high school and preparing for the next journey in their lives.  She will help them to explore their strengths and find ways to overcome obstacles.  "When basic needs are met, one person at a time, everyone wins," she says.

Vanessa joined Headway in September, 2015 and has been working in human services since 2010. She provides outpatient psychotherapy and psychological assessments and evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults, and is a member of our Impact team. In addition to providing therapy at our Richfield outpatient clinic, she also works co-located at Upper Mississippi Academy. She has experience working with numerous populations, including LGBTQ clients, juvenile offenders, and individuals who have experienced complex trauma. She values therapeutic approaches that are trauma-informed, strength-based, and often incorporates mindfulness-based techniques into the therapeutic process. She is passionate about understanding the neuro-biological impacts of trauma and is a certified Adaptive Internal Relational (AIR) Network Model Therapist.She is excited to have the ability to provide a wide range of services to culturally and diagnostically diverse populations. "I hope to provide a safe place for individuals to be themselves, process current and past challenges, and facilitate awareness of how their unique strengths can be utilized to improve their psychological health and well-being," she says.

In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys traveling, being outdoors, fishing, practicing mindfulness, and spending time with her family.
