"My staff (at Sioux Trail Elementary) have been sharing about Headway's training sessions. Teachers come back from the trainings excited to try new strategies and they have new understanding regarding mental health issues. This is making a difference in their classrooms and helping them relate to students when they are struggling."

-Shannon McParland, Principal, Sioux Trail Elementary

Kristin joined Headway in February, 2016 and has worked in the human services field for more than five years.  As a Mental Health Worker, she has the opportunity to be a mentor, teacher and role-model for adolescents with mental health illnesses that need guidance and training in social-emotional and all around basic life skills.  She has worked with children ages 5-18 and their families; in schools, treatment centers and in homes, and has experience working with a variety of mental health illnesses, especially children on the Autism spectrum.  "My favorite aspect of my position is that I get to be part of a collaborative team, share my ideas, and work in a diverse culture that brings out new experiences on a daily basis," she says.    "I get to collaborate, consult, and work together with therapists, families, teachers, and the Headway students to reach a common goal."

When Kristin is not at work, she loves doing outdoor activities.  In the summer, she enjoys boating, riding motorcycles, going for walks by the river, campfires, and playing volleyball.  In the winter, she enjoys riding her snowmobile and also staying warm inside.  She also enjoys working out and practicing yoga.
