As the pandemic continues and we look towards another cold Minnesota winter, it’s getting more and more difficult to stay mentally and emotionally healthy. We at Headway are here to help, but we understand that it can be difficult to know how to start therapy, where to begin, or what sort of help is available in the first place.

The Sun Post’s Kevin Miller spoke with our Managing Supervisor of Outpatient Services, Teri Clayton, about who’s been struggling most with the mental and emotional effects of the pandemic, and what support is available to help.

“There’s definitely been an increase in…anxiety in a lot of individuals, from children and adolescents to adults and elderly as well,” she said. “Definitely an increase in depression…related to losses associated with the pandemic – loss of loved ones as well as losses related to lifestyle changes…I think with the seniors, the impact of the isolation and not being able to see family if they’re staying in care facilities and whatnot, that’s been a huge issue.”
