Michael Haggar, MSW, LGSW - Therapist
A Little About Michael’s Role
Mike joined Headway in March 2020, and has worked in human services and education for over 15 years. As an educator, he worked with children of all ages, but especially high school-aged teens in Minneapolis. He also taught English as a second language to immigrants and refugees in St. Paul. In social work and therapy, he has worked with families, individuals, and couples of all ages and backgrounds. As a therapist within our adolescent day treatment program, he works with teens and their families, where the students are able to address their mental health, social, and educational needs simultaneously. “I hope to bring my natural curiosity and empathy to those with whom I work, and that through the professional relationship we can explore our motivations, grow into our best selves, and feel empowered to have a positive impact on the world,” he says.
When he is not working, Mike enjoys reading and writing science fiction and poetry, drawing and watercoloring, and road trips with friends and family, as well as international travel. He also enjoys meditation and journaling, and is a big believer in social justice activism and community organizing.
