Richard Blackburn, PhD, LP, DBSM - Manager, Training

Brooklyn Center

A Little About Rick’s Role

Rick joined Headway in November, 2020, and has worked in the human services field for over 20 years.  His degree is in Clinical Psychology, and he is a licensed psychologist in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  He is certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine from the American Board of Sleep Medicine and a Diplomate, Board of Behavioral Sleep Medicine (DBSM).  He has past experience as a sleep psychologist, and has experience working with adolescents, adults, geriatrics, TBI/ABI rehabilitation, inpatient substance abuse, sleep disorders, psychological testing, chronic pain, and health psychology.  As Manager, Training, he is directly involved with our internship and practicum programs, psychological testing, and is the HIPAA Compliance Officer for the organization.  H enjoys presenting and helps shape the way training needs for the organization are done. He says, “I have the unique position of being directly responsible to help shape future clinicians, improve the training and abilities of current clinicians, and focus on meeting both provider and organizational needs.”

When he is not working, Rick loves cooking, especially Italian foods, and he and his wife take a long motorcycle trip each year and enjoy finding backroads they’ve never been on.
